There exists temporary health insurance plans for uncovered individuals. This coverage can be taken any time for short periods. These policies prove to be economical but do not offer full coverage.

Most often these schemes are very useful for the employers who buy group insurance coverage for their employees. There are two ways in which you can get a temporary health insurance either a normal way or the one with a managed care formula, which is more advantageous. Owing to the economical advantage, the second one is more preferred by all.

This is liked by employers to be effective as a short term formula and applied in factories and fields to cover unfortunate eventualities suffered by employees. The duration of an insurance plan remains valid for one month to six months or can be extended up to a period of maximum one year. This serves employees, who do not have any kind of coverage at all.

The main niche group of people is those kinds of people who are unemployed, who moves places often, students or similar people. One can get this kind of insurance as soon as you apply for one. The procedure is relatively simple and it is because of this kind of simplicity and rapid effectiveness, it has been preferred by many.

Another advantage of this is that it covers unemployed people also. The current financial crunch resulted in a lot of people losing their jobs. As a result many families were left with no insurance cover. This quick and easily obtainable insurance plan serves the needs of the above mentioned category. It is also preferred by retired and old people.

Premiums on this policy are comparatively lower and this adds to its popularity. This plan does have its disadvantages. One is that it is available only for a short duration. Also there are some particular ailments it omits to cover. The check up and treatment expenses are not met by this policy. It is always better to know the ins and outs of the plan before committing to it.
