Are Mobile Phones Too Complicated?

By Waseem Afzal

Several years ago you could only make phone calls with your phone. Of course since that time mobile phones have definitely advanced quite a bit. With the new sim free mobile phone, you can surf online, send pictures, chat on Instant Message, and even text. Some even provide you with live television shows and offer you GPS navigation too.

It turns out that the latest hot pink mobile phone is a seriously cutting edge piece of equipment with technology that is advancing so rapidly that it may actually be too complicated for many users. In fact, a recent survey found that a full 60 percent of users thought that their phones were too difficult to use and had features that they never used. Many of these users would be perfectly content with a device that provided only voice and texting options.

There are customers from both ends of the age range when it comes to the sim free mobile phone market. It used to be that working adults were the core customer base for most companies. Today more and more kids are getting cell phones of their own and they always want to have the very best technology on their cell phones.

The media seems to pay a lot of attention to all the new technology and the smart phone market appears to be where new technology is making an appearance. Companies want to sell these things because they think they will make money with the more expensive phones. Carriers often make quite a bit from hip users who use the internet and email on a pink mobile phone than they do from those who are a bit older and just need to talk on the phone.

The phone companies cannot ignore this older market however because it continues to grow as more and more older folks decide to get a cell phone. Also the percentage of older people in the population is growing as the entire population ages, making them a powerful part of the market. If the latest sim free mobile phone becomes too complicated to use, then the cell phone companies are going to lose customers.

There is not a phone for every single user. Of course while companies are going to focus on new technology and new features that can be added to the top sim free mobile phones, they also have to think about older people who just want a hot pink mobile phone to use for calling their friends and family members.

There are already simple phones available, but phone companies must keep on making them available with the new and improved models that they sell as well. The companies also need to offer services in ways that are fair to everyone that is using these plans.

Someone who only wants to talk will clearly not want to pay as much as a user who is surfing the web all day, nor should they have to. Different plans and packages that offer limited features will allow all users to find the right match for their needs.
